The United manager's main target has long being reported as Antoine Griezmann but according to The Sun Mourinho's main priority is a holding midfielder. 2And top of Mourinho's list are Tottenham Hotspur's Eric Dier and Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko. According to reports Mourinho believes that the lack of a top-class defensive midfielder in his squad is one of the main reasons that United are not in contention for the title this season. 3Mourinho was not happy with the two holding players he inherited and both Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin have left the club. But Dier and Bakayoko would not come cheap. The former has a long-term contract at White Hart Lane so even if United were prepared to pay the £40million release clause it could still prove to be a battle to persuade him to leave. While Bakayoko - who would be open to a move - could set United back £35million. Meanwhile, United may have to go head to head with Chelsea to land Andre Silva. According to French outlet Telefoot United are reported to be one of a host of European clubs who are ready to battle for Porto's highly-rated forward. The 21-year-old has scored 20 goals in 38 appearances is in contract with the Portuguese side until 2021 and is reported to have a release clause of £51million.
