1Mexican attacker Hirving Lozano has expressed his admiration for Manchester United and has hinted that he could move to Old Trafford in the future. According to Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror, highly-regarded Mexican youngster Hirving Lozano has admitted a keen desire to join Manchester United. The 21-year-old was linked with the Old Trafford club last summer, and the transfer could come to fruition this time around. Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “I believe many [leagues] are beautiful, I like the English and the Spanish very much. But let’s see how things are and decide. The one I would like most is Manchester [United]. I like this club a lot and it’s a very important club.” Lozano has had a prolific 2016/17 campaign as he has racked up 18 goals and six assists in all competitions for Pachuca. Despite being only 21, he already has an impressive 13 international caps under his belt for the Mexican senior side. He is undoubtedly one of the hottest youngsters in world football, and would be a vital addition to Jose Mourinho’s setup at Old Trafford. The Portuguese has hinted at summer activity and has suggested that an attacking player could walk through the door before next season begins. While Lozano is not expected to break into the United first team from day one, it will at least add to the side’s strength in depth. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has almost single-handedly grabbed goals for the Manchester outfit, but he will turn 36 this year, and could be considering his options, with a move to the MLS on the cards. The Swede is one of the league’s leading goal scorers, but his teammates have not been has prolific in the final third. 2In fact, United have scored a paltry 46 league goals this season, one more than Bournemouth, and seven less than seventh-placed Everton. For a side that is used to scoring two and three goals in every game, their performances have been highly uncharacteristic of the United way of play. Adding Lozano may not drastically turn the fortunes around, but it will be a signal of intent from Mourinho. The 21-year-old is not an out-and-out striker, but has no problem in adapting to the role if he asked to. He prefers playing on the left flank for Pachuca, but has been often deployed on the opposite wing as well. His versatility will certainly benefit Mourinho’s plans, and it remains to be seen whether he pursues the Mexican’s come and get me plea, and attempts to sign him in the summer.
